Pointers/Setters

Pointers/Setters love to hunt get their heads down and follow a scent. They are wide ranging dogs so will tend to be searching quite a distance from you. Their total focus once found is the scent and unless you can control that desire to hunt, you will have a dog that just ignores you every time you leave the house for a walk.

What were Pointers/Setters bred for?

The role of a setter/pointer is to find game in open countryside and ‘point’ to it enabling the handler to approach before the flush.  A setter or pointer is not required to retrieve.
